Leah began her musical studies at the age of three under her mother Dr. Gloria Jacobson. At 13 she began studying with David Dillard – member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. At 6, Leah began studying piano with Lynda Kenny and subsequently with Keiko Ransom. She received numerous awards in city and state-wide competitions. In the summer after high school, Leah received her initial training in the Suzuki Method for violin, and has been teaching privately ever since.
Leah then went on to the University of Georgia where she received a Bachelor in Music in Music Performance for violin under the instruction of Levon Ambartsumian and Shakhida Azimkhodjaeva. Leah also received a Bachelor of the Arts in piano under Dr. Martha Thomas. While at UGA, Leah was a member of the University Symphony Orchestra, as well as the youngest member of ARCO Chamber Orchestra. In addition to being a presidential scholar nearly every semester, Leah was also the recipient of a School of Music scholarship. Leah was an active board member of UGA Hillel Foundation for 3 years, as well as a member of Sigma Delta Tau sorority, and Phi Beta Kappa Society. She was also chosen to be the School of Music representative by speaking and performing at student orientations and at dinners honoring donors to the School of Music. Leah graduated from UGA Magna Cum Laude in May of 2008.
After UGA, Leah went on to Georgia State University, where she received a Masters of Music Performance in violin. Leah studied violin under Dr. Christos Galileas, chamber music under Dr. Brandt Fredricksen and Martha Gerschefski, and conducting under Maestro Michael Palmer. She was the recipient of a School of Music assistantship which allowed her to assist in classes such as Music Theory and Music Appreciation. Leah graduated from GSU with a 4.0 GPA in May of 2010.
Until 2014, Leah resided in Atlanta, GA where she kept an active private violin studio of children ranging from 4 to 40 years of age and was the conductor and founder of SODA - a string orchestra for young players. She was also a member of SAGA (Suzuki Association of Georgia), where she served as President from 2013-2014. In addition to teaching Leah performed regularly with her trio, Luna Strings and numerous regional orchestras such as the Macon, Columbus, Augusta, and Valdosta Symphonies.
